Eleanor spent eighty-eight years making everyone around her feel like the most important person in the room.
She grew up in Willow Harbor, taught second grade for thirty-one years, and never once forgot a student’s name. She kept a garden that fed half the street, sang alto in the church choir, and could not pass a stray cat without stopping.
She is survived by her children Elena and David, her grandchildren, and a great many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the Willow Harbor Community Library Fund (fictional).

Mrs. Whitaker taught me to read. Forty years later I still hear her voice when I open a book.
Every summer there were tomatoes on our porch, and we never once saw her leave them.
